22. Social and Organisational Work

22.1 SBI Union: Hyderabad Main Branch of SBI (1868) handles multi-crore business and is divided into Commercial & Institutional (with Foreign Exchange Dept), Personal Banking, SSI & SB Divisions, Cash Dept which are all supported back office by Accounts Department. Its staff strength would have been around 400 or so.  SBI Staff Union is headquartered in Hyderabad LHO / Main Branch campus.  After two years of service, I took interest in 1973 to contest for EC Member for Accounts Department and won the election twice.  I learnt a lot many things in people management and resolving issues.

22.2 As stated earlier, I was chosen as Vice President for the SBI Staff Housing Society, ECIL Branch in 1975-76 but withdrew within a short time due to personal reasons. 

22.3 Being an active member of Lions Club, Manipal between 2000 and 2014, I handled responsibilities as a Member, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, President, Director and served to my full satisfaction.

22.4 I was the Founder President of Premier Park Apartments Owners Association, Manipal during the years 2009-11 and helped its registration.  I demitted Office, upon selling the flat subsequently. 

22.5 I was closely observing my father working for the AP Sistakaranam Association, Hyderabad during my younger years in 1960s and 1970s.  I have partially known the issues being handled by APSKA.  Subsequently, in 1990s, after quitting SBI and while staying in Hyderabad, I was attempting to revive the activities of APSKA along with my brother late Shri Ch. Nageswara Rao, late Shri B Venkatadri Rao, Behara Nageswara Rao-Advocate and others.  However, the task was daunting for want of funds, membership support, etc.  Now, Mr Trinadha Swamy is said to be handling this Assn., with a changed name as Telangana Sistakaranam Association (post bifurcation of State).

22.6 I shifted to Bangalore in 1996, Manipal in 1999 and finally settled down in Bangalore.  We have a few families of Sistakaranams / Patnaiks of North Andhra and Odisha and other parts of India in large numbers in Bangalore working for long years in various organisations.  Booming of IT industry brought many youngsters to Bangalore in recent years.  Infosys, WIPRO, TCS, Cognizant, and many others have grown in business globally and provided employment to many young engineers and graduates.  

22.6.1 All our families meet occasionally for weddings and other functions.  We also hold annual Karthika Vana Bhojana gatherings.  However, we never had any formal registered community association / organisation.  I have been handling a Facebook page Bengaluru Karanalu (Patnaiks) | Facebook and a WA group for this community. 

22.7 In August-September 2020, I received a proposal from Sri B Ramesh Patnaik of Raipur, Chattisgarh, Sri Vadada Umamaheswara Rao of Kharagpur, West Bengal and Sri Behara Harimohan Patro of Bhubaneswar, Odisha to join and form a new Outfit called All India Pravasandhra Sistakarana Association (AIPSKA).  It was proposed to form the body to serve community members other than AP and Telangana but residing in all other States and abroad.  A founding team comprising of representatives from as many states to cover wider cross section.  

22.7.1 I was appointed as one of the Vice Presidents.  We launched a Quarterly Online Newsletter (Sista Velugu), a Facebook page AIPSKA Patnaiks Raipur | Facebook, WhatsApp Group for the EC Members and proposed to register the body.  Large number of online events were organised to encourage men, women and children, in cultural activities, quizzes, annual events were organised, even during the Covid19 time (since March 2020). 22.8 NWAOWA: I jointly own a flat number A-503 in Nandi Woods Apartments in Yelenahally, Begur, off Bannerughatta in Bangalore since 2011.  It was rented till May 2020, and we occupied it in June 2020.  Nandi Woods Apartments Owners Welfare Association (NWAOWA) is registered body serving the community since 2009 with 13 EC Members.  I was unanimously elected as President of NWAOWA in February 2021 for a two-year term.  The EC faced and handled a variety of issues including Covid19.  We conducted two AGMs in 2021 and 2022 and a Special General Meeting-2022. 22.9 AISKA Hyderabad: All India Sista Karana Association (AISKA) is a decades old community organisation.  Two-Three outfits with same name are operating from Berhampore-Odisha, Vizag and Vizianagaram, for reasons best known to the Leaders / Members.  Similarly, APSKA is also operating from two-three centres like Vizag, Srikakulam and Vijayawada while in Hyderabad there are two bodies existing.  In October 2022, Sri Dabbiru V Krishna Rao Sistakaranam of Hyderabad SWA, Sistakaranam Community Site was elected unanimously as President of AISKA in Visakhapatnam SISTA KARANAM SIKARAM SRI.D.V KRISHNA RAO GARU ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY - YouTube.  He has been championing for the cause of OBC at all India level for a few years.   He invited me and others to join the newly constituted Executive Body of AISKA.  I am representing Karnataka from Bangalore along with Sri R Ramji Patnaik and Uriti Santhosh Kumar.  

22.10 I am closely associated with a digital group for Sistakaranams called Sistakarana Ikya Vedika, operating from Hyderabad. It has a website OUR FRATERNITY - Sistakaranam Ikyavedika (skiv.online), a monthly online newsletter LEKHA, a Facebook page (1) SistaKaranam IkyaVedika | Facebook and YouTube page SMALL POETRY ON SISTAKARANAM IKYA VEDIKA - YouTube too to cover various activities / achievements of members of community all over the world.    

22.11 I am a Life Member of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF)-Mumbai, Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD)-New Delhi, All India Management Association (AIMA)-New Delhi and State Bank of India Pensioners Association, Hyderabad Circle (SBIPAHC).  I am also on the Board of Study of SSIM-Hyderabad and Institute Development Council of VVIM-Hyderabad.
